So I went to go diving to get a load of rock.....got to the marina, launched the boat hopped in....started the motor...NOT....dead batteries, that is weird as I had the charger on it all the previous day.....no big deal, got a jump, she started up.....but motor would not run right.....

Cough, gasp....sputter..so I tie off to the dock cleat and gun her....sputter...so put it in reverse and a little throttle, and I pull the cleat off the dock..great.......what the heck?...check the fuel separator, water in the gas...ok no big deal, empty a gallon out of the racor filter...she starts up fine and is running...so out the channel...and into the gulf....

On the way out I notice some water in the bilge....hmmmm....auto bilge.. pump is not working...no big deal, just turn on the switch and pump her out.....

get out to the site ...anchor up...and over the side diving....pretty good vis...get the load of rock and back on board....so I get ready to pull the rock bags......and my winch is acting funny, so I switch batteries with the battery switch, it melts.....great..no battery switch....so I direct wire the winch....try to pull a bag...winch says GRRRRRR...and pukes...great no winch...have to pull the bags by hand....so pull them all up.....

Then I turn on the pump that I use as a wash down, and to fill the barrels with saltwater to put the bags of rock in....I see smoke coming out from under the gunnel....pump wiring smoked....great....now it is 5 gallon buckets, one at a time to fill the six barrels.....ok...got that done....water in the barrels, rock is on board.....and submerged..

then I notice the fuel gauge is not working....hmmm..put 20 gallons in her last trip...fuel gauge is smoked...what the heck.....bad common ground....was heat shrink wrapped and coated in liquid electrical tape....still failed....

soooo three days later and $1350 in new parts, went diving today...all is well .....everything works great....

all this in one day..and was not even Friday the 13th...
today was special to....not so great of vis, I hopped over, got to the bottom and just about landed on a 250 pound loggerhead turtle, I think I scared him as much as it scared me......other than that everything worked, got another load of rock and home safe.....I am getting to old for this....

Wow, that WAS a rough day! Glad you made it through. At least you didn't get stranded out there. You run a tough job, but the best service!

Wow! Sorry to hear you had such a rough day and a rough day on your wallet. Don't get to old, I haven't purchased my package yet!!! LOL!!

So in boat dollars, that was about $1.35. I ate a mooring ball this year, the steel rod inside it wrapped around my prop requiring both to be pulled and reconditioned. I feel your pain!

I hope your prices aren't changing as a result however!

Ed (we need to talk about shipping my stuff in the next week btw)
