Bad experience

Well, I ordered for only the second time trying to use up my first orders credit and received the shipment today. When I opened the box I noticed two things. First, the bags were ice cold. Secondly, the fish were upside down at the bottom of the bag. There were two luke warm heat pads taped to the lid of the box and not doing much for temp. My first order was $250 and I lost all but $35 so this order was the $104 they credited me. By the way, it cost $40 shipping to get my credit. I called bluezoo to talk to someone and all they would say was "our policy is" over and over. I know that they don't have to do anything but it would have been nice to hear anything that resembled them wanting me to give them another chance. I was talked to like a child and left feeling like they stole my money. I am very disappointed in this as I don't have the money to just throw away.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I went back and found an account that seemed to match the description of the orders you placed. It does show on the account the all issues were resolved by us. Was not the case? If there is anything else we can do for you to make you happy please let us know. We are always here to help. Take care.

Re: Bad experience

Sorry for the delay. After posting on here I recieved a call from mike at bluezoo. He asked if a partial refund would help. The refund would not totaly cover everything but was better than where I was before the call. I have not recieved the refund yet and have lost another fish so I don't know how they will respond. If they refund what they say along with the losses from this order I don't think I could complain much. I will follow up on how it turns out.

I do need to say that mike was much better to deal with. More to come.

Yes Mike is a really nice guy. Looking at the account history, it really looks like he bent over backwards to help you out on this issue. Hopefully things turn out to your satisfaction in the end. Take care and good luck with your tank.

BlueZooAquatics -- A Positive Note

:wave:I too have had some unfortunate issues with BlueZoo but I have really been impressed with their willingness to help and make things right. My contact there has been Mark (not Mike). Mark has been a great help on various critter, tank, and shipping issues. We even had an hour-long phone conversation several weeks ago. (Imagine! -- being able to speak with a real human being -- and a true swf expert!). My experience with BZA has been that they are extremely customer service oriented, their critter quality is outstanding, packaging is without peer -- but they have some shipping problems especially in their dry goods department. I've been short-shipped a few times which is frustrating. Too, during the deep-freeze weather in December, I received an expensive shipment of corals that arrived literally in ice. Subsequently, I've noticed that other web-based SWF sellers have (understandably) expanded their disclaimers regarding weather considerations. Just thought I'd pass this information along for what it's worth. I think BZA is an honorable resource that is willing to stand by their product and service.

I can vouch for this ReefShop! I got my package today, everything was separately double bagged in a giant bag and carefully wrapped with newspaper and a heat pack. Everything arrived alive. I even had a personal call upon receiving my livestock. Thanks Greg!

Mike and I talked again to discuss the issues from both the first and second orders. He was very fair, I'm sorry it took me posting to get a response from them but to there defense, they didn't know me from Adam. I was given a refund that covered most of my losses so I sure can't complain.
I would really like to know if there is anyone in my area that has had the problems I had. I can't help but wonder if either the Lubbock hub or somewhere else on the way here might be the problem. Anyways, I'm sorry that this didn't work out as Bluezoo's prices are very reasonable.

When i ordered a fish from them, their packing was superb and came with a "care package" and fish food. AAA

All I can say is God forbid if you need to talk with the person you ordered from over the phone and forget even getting a call back. I will give full details when I see how this turns out.

I have talked to them several times, and they have called me back as well.
I dont think they are a live aquaria type deal where they have dozens of people answering phones. I have called plenty of times and they never made me feel rushed to get off the phone with them. They went over and above to answer my questions.

I have had delt with bad companys before, BZA does not seem to be one of them to me.

IMIUBU,

If there was a problem with an order please let us know. We do accept emails, phone calls as well as posts here and on our Facebook account. Sometimes the phone traffic can be very heavy and email becomes the best way to communicate. We never ignore any customer or leave a single person hanging on any issues.

Let us know if there is something we can do to help and welcome to RC by the way.

I give Bluezoo a thumbs up so far. I've placed 3 orders with them. I want to place another but I feel its too risky with the cold temps now , no matter how they pack it. They might do a great job with heat packs and such but you need to account for the idiots at the shipping company who leave things out in the cold. My second order didn't go so well. Fedex's fault. There was a problem with the plane leaving CA, so it never arrived. I got a personal phone call from Bluezoo letting me know what happened and set up when i wanted to reschedule my delivery. Every fish I have ordered is still alive and looked great.

You really have to be attentive to when the order arrives at your house though. My fedex guys just drop the box at my doorstep without ringing the bell or getting a sig. My last order was out there for about 20min. Because i never heard the truck go by.

 To Blue Zoo, they re my favorite on line source for corals and the clean-up crew package I ordered from them was out of this world, as are their corals which I have plenty of. I had an incident recently with a coral I ordered from them and I was not expecting a refund, I just wanted to know why the coral bleached right out of the box, and after speaking with Kris:beachbum: via email he gave me some fantastic pointers which I am implementing to tweak my water parameters and that was priceless in it self and they also gave me credit for the bleached out coral. So IMO they are tops when it comes to customer satisfaction, outstanding marine life, excellent packaging and shipping and a wealth of knowledge which they are willing to share. I will be starting a second tank this spring and it will be totally stock with Blue Zoo because they care to make a difference and not just a profit.:wavehand:
