Bad Guys

Found these guys triple teaming a turbo. Got them out and put the turbo back in but he was dead already. As soon as the turbo hit the bottom all the scavengers went to town on the carcass. I wasn't sure if they killed it or just were cleaning up untill I found another one locked up with another turbo. This time the turbo survived. So now there being evicted as soon as I see em.

Perhaps the snail was dead already and these guys were cleaning up.

The 3 snails may have been indeed cleaning up but a 1/2 hour later I found one on top of a live turbo. That's why the eviction.
Paint - Not yet but I plan on getting out there soon.

Hmmm. Now you're scaring me. I got 3 or 4 of those guys too. Guess I need to take them out.

Anyone know what they are?

They are some kind of whelk and I have alot of them. They were the first things I saw moving when I received my first half. Anyone else evict these guys. I'm sure everyone who has TBS has them.

I've removed all of mine from the 75 gallon Package. I had about 10. They are carnivorous. The guys at TBS call them "oyster drills." Mantis love 'em!

As far as I understand those snails are called an oyster driller ( predatory whelk snail).

I also have a lot of these in my tank and as long as i have everything fed there are no problems but they will swarm anything that is dead..
