Bad Idea To Mix Anthias in a 100g.?

Ian

I <3 Corals!
There are a few different anthias that I'm looking at for my aquarium and if possible I'd like to put in a larger group of one and a couple of another.

The aquarium is 48 x 24 x 20 with pretty open rockwork and plenty of hiding spots.

I'd like to get a larger quantity of smaller fish so I'm looking at fish that don't exceed 3.5".

The ones I'm looking at are...

I know that Bartletts fit the bill but I've followed a couple of friends document a larger group as they slowly killed the others off until 1 or 2 fish remain.

If you have experience with any of these Anthias in particular can you please comment whether I will have success with ~5 of one and ~3 of another or if I'm better off with ~7 or so of just a single type?

Thanks.....

I've never had an issue with mixing different species of anthias. They really tend to ignore each other nost of the time. Or they adopt each other into their groups. My tank is an anthias Benetton ad

Ignitus and carberryi get larger than the others you posted.

Resplendent and Randall's like VERY similar... I can't even tell females apart. Not sure how they'd mix, or if you'd even want to.

I have 3 lyretails, 3 bartletts, 1 carberryi (thinks he' a bartlett), and 5 dispars. They all get along fine in my 150g. Other than a few of the dispars, I've had them for a few years now.

Thanks Peter, I had some Sunsets a while back, they really were some sweet looking fish and they stayed out in the water column. Aparently the Resplendants like to stay in their own little area so maybe I'll get a nice mix of activity with the 2..

I really like the sunsets... but I don't see them very often, and they stay small. I think maybe they might be intimidated by larger species like the ones I have.

Ian I don't think you'll have an issue with mixing them, however I think that some of your picks are a little on the difficult side as far as care so you may run into problems with them in the short term.

Ian, i've got some Resplendents and I absolutly love them. I'm waiting for a qt to free up so i can add 6-10 more vs different kinds. Here are a few shots i took of them which still doesnt do them justice in person!
