bad idea????

Im going to be filling up my 10 gallon at work soon, and plan on dipping my equipment in a 20% HCl solution to clean them up. I know people do it to the plastic components of the powerheads all the time, but is there any reason why I shouldnt dip the grimey glass heater in a similar solution as well? Will it weaken the glass or anything?

No. HCL is stored in glass bottles for school science labs.

thank you sir. I figured as much since ours is stored in glass bottles, but I've also seen glass heaters break in water so..... lol.

unfortunately, we have lots of Hydrochloric, Nitric, and Sulfuric in the lab... but no Vinegar lol

i think the bottles used to store acids are coated with something, or are they tempered glass? i know they are special lol

Just what I use. PH is around 2.5 if that helps...At least thats what my prob read when I cleaned it.
