Bad month for me...

Yeah, I was just looking at that this morning Eileen, I'll wait till the end of the 7day dark period to inspect them. I was thing Pathogen based necrosis/ or that new problem discussed there. I had people check my tank and they see no signs of FW infestation.

Sorry that you got one of those from me, I always had good pieces, just this month was the most horrible I've had since I've started reefkeeping 10-12 yrs ago. But yes just drop the polyps in a 1 gal bucket of RO with a tablet of Furan2.. for a couple of mins , do this once or twice a week for 2 weeks or so and it'll be better. I'm starting my furan dips tonight.

no i am not blaming you fro giving me free frags :) i just want to make sure you are aware of them and know what to treat them.

Oh yeah, I've treated them before... hopefully they do well for you. Its funny that they didn't show before I gave them to you now some of my polyps have them too...

Update: My buddy is holding my sps frags for me while I deal with the issues with my tank. I think I will be doing a bare bottom tank. But put in a bowl or something to hold some some for the nassarius snails to hide in and wrasses to sleep in.

Where in the Bayarea can I get decent priced good base rock ???

Need opinions on how to clean/scrub live rock prior to placing back into the tank ( clean off dietrus and stuff )..

charles: nassarius snails don't *need* sand to be happy. I moved my 32g tank to a bb 40g frag tank, and they are still all alive. the bowl may cause weird problems if you get stuff stuck in it.

wrasse to sleep in... well that's a different story =(

funny thing is I see them either sleep in the nooks and cranys in the rocks or right on top of the sand bed... Weird...

As for Base Rocks.. where can I get these cheap.. I'm thinking of setting up all base rock and just seed it with some small rocks from my TBS and sell my TBS.

charles: I don't know of any base rock around the bay area that would please any serious reefer. I would highly recommend getting nice pieces from places like reefferrocks or marcorocks. I have a ton from them, and they are beautiful rocks, better than any live rock I've seen. I'd prefer marco over reefer having both at the moment.

Also, you could consider cooking a few pieces of your TBS rock now to get rid of any pests etc. and use that to seed your base rock. It would be good to start asap the cooking process.

On my next setup, I'm actually seeding with ipsf packages, caribsea arag alive, tigger pods, etc. just to keep things "sterile" of pests. It'll cost a few $100, but well worth the headaches down the line.

Tonga branch would be pretty cool. I saw Seminolecpa's setup with what appeared to be all branch rock, pretty slick.

oh man Charles..=/ sorry to hear what happen..i have a few tank issues myself a new crop of aiptasia has found its way into my tank.

Keep me in mind if u do start farming roses again..thx and good luck rene

Yes, I'll let you know once all the things get fixed and either my friend or I start getting them to propegate again.

Damm... to add salt to my issues this month... My PS2 craps out on me... DAMMMM !!!! now I got to spend more money now on a PS3..... good and bad.....

More likely 6's or 8's Eileen

I'm going to get the PS3 cause it has the Blue Ray as well... plus I know which serial # of PS3's has the defects.

Kinda sucks... NEW rock or PS3 hmmmmm.... so torn....

Been there myself del. I had just got back into the hobby back in 2004 right after I moved to Biloxi MS. area. I decided to start with a 125 Fowler. Then I decided to try a few basic corals, but found quickly that it was hard to keep the nitrates low enough for fish and corals. Then I changed the 125 to freshwater cichlids, and created a 29 reef. All was going well, then guess what happened....KATRINA hit. I lost everything due to power outage(only lost 1 car to hurricane though...we were lucky). Well
after that, I started the 29 reef back up, and bang.....were moving!!! (Remote assignment). Sold all the critters and put the tanks (125 and 29) in storage for a year now. Just got word we will be moving to Europe in a few months, so I'm trying to decide if I will start back up once we are there. I've had a whole year off from the hobby, and although I miss it, I'm wondering if I want to get back into it once we get to London. Even If I do, I think I will sell the 125 and make the 29 a sump for a new oceanic 58RR. Decisions, decisions, ummph. Then again, I hope the 125 and the 29are still worthy since they have been in storage for a year. I hope the seals hav'nt dried out.....:(
