Bad reading on temp probe?

Ok so I've got my reefkeeper running and everything's connected to it. I've been using this to read my temp (it plugged into my sl1 via the phone jack style plug)

I wanted to not have it connected to via the phone jack plug so I got a new temp probe that uses the molex plug (special type plug that plugs into a different port on the sl1) and this is what it looks like.

So with the first temp probe I was getting a temp reading of 78.5 deg. I have my heaters set for 77 so they currently weren't on.
Then I unplugged that and plugged in the new temp probe. And now the temp is reading 74.5. Weird
So I went and found 2 thermometers that you float in the tank to test it that way to. I have them both floating in the sump where the temp probe is at too. Both of those seem to be reading the same 74/75 deg that the temp probe is also reading. Do I assume the new temp probe is correct and the old one wasn't reading right?

I have a "precision thermometer" by Tropic Marin I use when needed.
I also have a hand held laser unit I can use.
Actual temperature is not as necessary as stability of it, 2 degrees here or there is not a problem unless @ the upper or lower limits of the norm.
I would try a better thermometer.

Well as of today, the new reefkeeper temp probe and the 2 thermometers are all stil reading same temp. Looks like the old one wasn't reading right.
