Bad weather

Maybe LiveAquaria should allow a customer delay option for ordering in the event of bad weather. I'd rather get a diver's den (or any order) and it arrive safety then spend the night at Fedex in who knows what conditions playing Russian roulette.

Maybe base it on zip code or something? I feel bad enough when I get an occasional fish that doesnt make it in the summer. Perhaps if you know there might be bad weather in your area you can be offered the option to have it delayed a day?

I know most fish may not cost that much but its still a living creature/organism.

It would also help your profit margins if only slightly.

Maybe it's a huge undertaking, but maybe it could flag orders by state or something? Yes your guarantee is wonderful but it doesn't help the little "guys" in the box much.

Just a thought

MimicTang,

Thank you very much for expressing your concerns and offering suggestions. We will forward them on to our Director for consideration.

donna not trying to be rude but thats not allot of answer
what i want to know is why not take extra steps besides a single heatpack to get stuff to arrive alive you must be losing hundreds of dollars worth of livestock what can be done?

Granted your a business, but why not just hold the fish a day rather then issue refunds and take the wholesale loss. Plus all those poor fish. Heck to make it real easy issue a 1 day hold if bad weather visits u or a region. You only have to worry about Midwest, and New England really. Perhaps an exception here and there. The more fish you send as refunds the more impact you're making on the oceans which isnt something hobbiest want to happen. We want as little a footprint as we can help.

We "love" our fish and want as many as possible to make it to new homes.

MimicTang,

The health of our livestock is our primary concern. We check the weather continuously and have stopped shipments to specific areas in the past. You will notice on a recent thread that we stopped shipments to 23 states Feb 5th due to frigid temperatures. We do our best to foresee any delays and contact all customers. However, temperatures and storm systems change hourly and from county to county. We also encourage our customers to call us if they are aware of bad weather and we certainly will hold their package until it is safe to ship.

During the last two weeks I assure you our mortality rate is low even with the fluctuating weather. Marine fish handle cold weather more successfully than hot weather. During the summer we also have concerns regarding shipping live specimens and will hold packages if we feel the temperatures exceed our standards of safely for our aquatic live.

Thank you for your concerns and for giving us this opportunity.

GMSguy,

I am sorry to hear of your loss. If you have not already, please provide us with your order information and we will credit you in full.

We periodically look into our shipping options to include materials. We believe that we have the best shipping materials currently available in the industry. However, we always want to offer the very best which means improvements can always be made. If you have a specific idea on a box design please PM me and we can discuss it.
