Not looking for any handouts just upset and needed to say something.
The funny thing is nobody saw a thing and they had to be there for awhile:mad2:

It is going to suck starting over..

But on a good note I got back together with my girlfriend..lol

hey, sorry to hear...
my neighbors also had their house broken into last wk. i didnt wait for it to happen to me, so i did my homework and got a home security system this wk. i have nothing for them to take, but just having someone break in and rumble through my stuff is not worth it.
let me know if i can help in any way.

I couldn't even imagine. The closest I've come to being "violated" like that was when someone stole my Sirius reciever out of my unlocked truck. It was totally my fault for not locking it overnight and it was only a Sirius, but I was surprised at the insult that I felt.

My roommates truck, my truck and my motorcycle have all been broken into/ tampered with in the last month. I'm installing a camera with a gun on it.

Sorry to hear that. Was broken into twice at my old house. You never quite get over it. Always wondering if they are coming back. Have an alarm on this house. No break ins.

Just so everyone in the community knows. I work for Protection One, the 2nd largest security company in the nation, and #1 ranked in customer service.

I would be more than happy to deeply discount a security system for members of this community. Consider it the "friends and family" discount.

Sorry it happened to you, I deal with families nearly daily that are going through what you did. I also know a good lock smith if your in the market for having your place re-keyed.

Do y'all install systems that work w/o a land based phone line? We have a dedicated DSL line, and VoIP for our 'home' phone, so we don't have a 'real' phone line, but we'd like to have a security system....

Absolutely, we use a device called "alarm net". When your alarm goes off it sends us a cellular signal instead of a land based signal. It is actually more secure. A phone line is vulnerable (especially in Arizona, when they are on the outside of your house in a box labeled "cox telephone").

I would be more than happy to come by and give you a quote. I work on ZERO pressure sales style!

I can feel your pain. Our house was broken into last Thanksgiving when we were out of town and lost a bunch of things. We now have an alarm and we have installed motion detector flood lights around the entire house. It really sucks.

While I am doing shameless plugs for having a security system...

As some of you may have read in my other post a few days ago, my pet lizard recently passed away and my wife bought me an African Tortoise to replace him. I set up the new habitat and had leave on Friday evening, so I didn't have time to get things properly set up. I put the turtles new basking lamp on a camera tri-pod until I could get back on Saturday night and set up a bracket on the wall to hold the lamp.

Friday night at about 9 pm I got a call from Protection One telling my monitored smoke detector had gone off. My wife was at work, and I was in Prescott....so I had them dispatch the fire department just in case there was really a problem (this particular smoke detector has false alarmed one time about a year ago and we had the fire dept. sent and there was no problem). Turns out there WAS a problem! My cat must have knocked the tripod over and the basking lamp fell into the large rubber maid tote the turtle lives in, the basking lamp burnt straight through the tub and lit a dog bed on fire!!!! The fire dept. was able to gain entry into the house through an unlocked window and take care of the problem. The fire was tiny and they didn't need water or anything to put it out.

In a nut shell...the monitored security/ smoke detection system saved my house, 3 dogs, fish tank, cat and God knows how much stress in our lives.

There is NO reason to no have a monitored system. It's about $1 a day for peace of mind that could save you thousands of dollars and personal safety.

I know how frustrating that kind of stuff can be... I have had it happen to me. Hope things get better.

Hey Dirt4dinner,

I didn't know that's what you did. I just had a security system put in a month or so ago and well the guys I had do it are terrible so far. They will be out here again next week on install try number 4 with a 5th to follow. LOL

One day we will be secure.

if I could cancel I would but I think I'm in too deep.

Its humorous My family was broken into Oct 1st 1997 (never will forget that date) and we lost SOO much. mostly family memorabilia. Family bible. Tons of photo albums. All the jewlery and all the things my grandfather left for my father and me. It was all irreplaceable.

We got dogs after that to make us feel better.

Now that my dogs are getting close to 10 years old, we have a security system to make sure nothing happens to the dogs. Life is certainly funny.

I'll talk to the wifey, and see what she says. We have dogs and cats though, so it makes the motion sensors obsolete.

Motion sensors are not obsolete unless you have a HUGE dog. Our systems come stock with 40lb. pet immunity sensors, and those can be upgraded to 80 or 100 lb. immunity. Don't worry about the motions...we have ways!
