Some suggest getting glass cut to size, some DIY acrylic or plexi. Dawned on me today I can get tons of scrap tiles from job sites. Saw a bunch of glass tile scraps today, little leary about these though as one side is painted. What uncommon materials have you used or have seen used?

Use 1/4" glass with edges sanded to avoid cuts.
Have it made 1/8" smaller in width for easy positioning and adhesion with silicone.
Plexi is not the best choice, glass is.
