Hello, If you saw this forum previously, I had it removed as I realized I wasn't writing a topic that i would want to read myself and I was also having terrible trouble with photo hosting.
I learned a lot of salt water basics helping my mother with a couple 55g fish only tanks she had over the years. (Also learned everything you shouldn't do....undergravel filter, freshwater gravel, lava rock, no water changes, hippo tangs in 55g, never replaced filters:headwally
She did not have the resources we have here today.
My first on my own tank was a 55g reef tank with a 10g sump & 10g refugium, had a chinese made t5 light, a sea swirl for return, 2 aqueon circulation pumps, super skimmer 125. I had a 20g QT setup, RO Unit, and Reefkeeper... went fairly well my biggest regret from the whole thing was using real live rock, had a ton of pest issues.
We moved, I switch to a 60g cube that fit the space better, converted the refugium to another sump compartment and bought another chinese made metal halide light, slowly began to upgrade this tank... switched the aqueon pumps for MP10Wes traded light out for a radion. Added a 40g sump with a reef octopus skimmer, started adding Kalk. Overall Learned A lot!
Then our living situation required us to take the tank down, mostly everything was sold off.
FINALLY! We have a house of our own and this is where the build begins!
We have a fairly good sized basement that will be converted into a fish room with the display facing the stairs and family room. Next Post Will Be What I want to have and then I will show you the small progress so far.:bounce1:
