Baldwin's pipefish

Does anyone have any experience with these? There is a store near me that has had a pair for 3 months now and they are eating cyclopeeze and rods food. I have mostly small, peaceful fish and only a tube anemone as a potential threat. Does anyone have any more information on these?

Not a great picture, I know, but does it look anything like this?

i don't have Kuiter's book here at work, but IIRC, that fish is indeed Doryhamphus baldwinii. it's a flagfin, and as such will spend its time in the water column. i wouldn't worry about it and the tube 'nem.

in fact, i kept my Janss' pair in my softy/LPS reef with a good-sized tube 'nem and never had any trouble.

sweet find!

a foxface, green mandarin, leopard wrasse, lyretail Anthias, and a trio of green chromis.

I plan on keeping mine with a pair of ocellaris, a small yellow coris, a royal flasher wrasse, and a baby blue tang. I am pulling out my leopard and three mccosker flasher wrasses to make room and reduce competition.

I just released the pair into their new home. There was a mishap with acclimation, so I hope they will be ok. The female is swimming around, but the male is lying on the rock under a ledge. He will move once disturbed though. How long does it normally take pipes to feel comfortable? I know with other fish I wouldn't worry as much, but with these I just feel like they are so small that worrying is warranted. :)
