ballast being bunk

my dual 250 halide ballast is acting up on me. Only one side will fire, and it's not the light because if i switch the plugs the other light will come on. Although if i fiddle with it for a bit, they both will light. However today i can't get the "fiddle" maneuver to work. anyone have a clue?

i've heard of people having to replace the capacitor before. you could open it up and swap them back and forth to see if the problem follows the cap. BUT, if it's still under warranty (you have the sls, right? it has a 5 year warranty) then you might void it by opening it up.

correct, it's the maristar package from sls. I'll give them a call this week and see what they say. Although it was an ebay purchase, used.
