yes, the lens on the fixture is OK. for a 150watt double ended bulb get the Phoenix 14k. absolutely beautiful and good par.

if a Hamilton fixture a Hamilton ballast will be plug and play/ no wiring needed.

no,but if you don't know how could be.
if you like that ballast,it's by Sunlight Supply, just get one their fixtures and it will be plug and play.

if you want that fixture get a Hamilton electronic ballast.

Just stick with same brand pendant and ballast. Then
you just plug in and play.

Either bulb will do xm is a little bluer, phoenix is a liitle brighter.

I have the Cayman Sun but in the 250w version. I bought mine as a complete light setup with the fixture/e-ballast/bulb. They sell these with either their magnetic ballasts as the standard option and with their e-ballast as a secondary option. I do not see the e-ballast option however on that website. If you look around you will find it sold that way. It comes with a Hamilton 14k bulb which isn't bad for the 250w version as it has great growth but only so so on the color. I do not know how the 150w looks.

They did not have all those options when I ordered mine. You only had the option of mag or elec ballast. Now you can even choose between a few diff bulbs. Nice.

Which fixture do you think is better?? And I'm looking for color so I'm probably gonna want a XM bulb
Which is better? You have only listed one fixture???? If you are refering to wattage the 150w would be good for your current tank at only 12" deep. But if you ever want to upgrade or use it over a different tank that is deeper then you would be better off getting a 250w version. I was running my 250w over a 10" frag tank and now it is over my 40br. If you are asking about the ballasts I chose the electronic ballast so that I could run any 250w bulb I want. The HQI Mag ballasts should fire all bulbs but is specifically made to fire DE HQI bulbs. Non HQI Mag ballasts will not fire some DE bulbs depending on the M number.
I am running a 250w xm20k in mine and it is not all that blue at all. It does however bring out colors in my corals that Hami 14k, Ushio 14k, Phoenix 14k, and Iwasaki 15k bulbs did not show. These colors were there but those bulbs did not let you see them. The moment I turned on the XM20k for the first time all the corals under it showed off some very good coloring.

do the leds matter?

The LED's are night light LED's and come with the fixture itself even if you just buy the fixture by itself I believe.

He's comparing the Hamilton with the above Sunlight Supply fixture and ballast.
yes, the leds are moonlights.

That should be a very nice light set up and you will already have the ballast to move up to 250w if you every need to.

Yea I'm quite confident with the decisions I'm choosing right now I'm hoping itll turn out real nice. Do I need to purchase a hanging kit in order to hang it??

And I'm unsure if my flow will be good I have a hydor koralia 4 and 1. Was thinking about buying a hydor koralia 3 and using the 3 and 4.
