Bamboo Cat Shark - Removal

I have a bamboo cat shark in my tank and it is time to take him out. I bought him 4 months ago and he was about 7 inches long and now he is about 18 inches long...in only 4 months! I have a 155 gallon tank but that became very small for him now since i have many rocks and he keeps on growing.

I need to remove him so i can take him to my LFS...

Any suggestions on how to remove him?

thanks!

Wow, you must be feeding him a lot! Either that or it isn't the shark it was sold to you as. That is some super fast growth.

IMO the best way to get a shark like this out of the tank is to put some of the tank water into a large cooler and reach in a grab the shark around the middle of it's back. It is going to thrash pretty hard so you need a very firm grip, but without squeezing too hard down on the shark. Once you get a good grip, more fast to put it into the cooler and close the lid. It sounds kind of crazy, but shouldn't be too hard.

Good Luck!

I was thinking of grabbing his tail with my hand and using a small net i have just to cover his mouth/head...any comments?

i'd avoid the net just, don't want it getting caught on his gills or teeth (have fun reaching in and pulling it from his teeth)... if your quick/careful you can easily grab him around the back like ^^ said.
