Ban on local nems

They're putting a 3 year ban on Condy anemones def a good thing for us divers and the environment

sweet now we all can see them ....if it wasnt for nino taking them all ....the rest of us could see one lol
 
wow! Anyone read the article and notice the quantity collected. And that looks like it is just in the keys. Almost a quarter mil a year in the 90's. No wonder there disappearing.
 
All fishing doesn't need temp bans, just better regulations. Millions in a year is ridiculous. For example, look at Texas. Redfish were damn near extinct, now it's one of the best fisheries in the US! Stop the longliners swordfishing, it's coming back like gangbusters! When I was a teenager, good luck catching one on an $800 charter. Now, you catch 2 or 3 per night. Further, 800-1000 lb swords were common, now 150-200lb swords are common. 10 more years, I might have to buy a boat just for them!
 
Interestingly I just received my educational collecting permit, and Condy's are on the no take list already.

Indeed. Better regulations would avoid the need for bans. Sadly politics effect the reality of regulations more so than science, and we end up with various populations crashing despite the regulations that do exist :(
