Band W clowns Nutrition

OK here is the deal,.

I have B and W clowns which breed every 13 days. Eggs hatch on the 8th day and have no problem hatching. I think I could improve the parents nutrition because i have massive losses on Day 1 or 2.
Currently feeding a mix of Fish, Squid, Prawns, Lemon Juice and flake. have in the past worked with Snapper roe and lambs heart,.

These losses are regardless of feed levels. If I leave them ... they die, If I feed them enriched rots... I get the same die off.

I suspect that if I dont feed them as much then the "fast" ones survive but if I feed them then the "slow" ones survive. ( when I feed them there are a lot of fish with burst bellies on the bottom "
assumedly the fast ones???
Anyone got any advice?
Interesting that people claim to be able to set up a rotifer culture in their larval tank cos I have no chance.... My fish seem to eat themselves to death?

Can anyone give details of what conditioning diet they feed their spawning parents?
?
Um... Help Thanks

Nathan

Unless you think it's already pretty high, try increasing the air supply to the larval tank.

I'm not positive but I don't think I've ever heard of larvae busting their guts on rotifers at day 1 or 2  Are you certain of this? Try feeding less, more often?

David,
The air flow in the tank is pretty high. I have been able to achieve best hatch rates with the eggs being pretty much rocked by the air. Contact doesnt seem to bother them? maybe this is affecting them after the hatch? but they seem ok for a day odd?

Next time I mess their food up I will try to take a few photos of the exploding fish guts. will make for an interesting post I am sure.

Now back to the real question.

What does everyone feed their parents?

Flake, high protien stuff (heart etc), shrimp, roe. spirulina, fish flesh, mysid??... anyone care to elaborate on something which has helped them?
