Banded butterflyfish C. striatus how to keep it ...

In liveaquaria they say easy species... Well never been able to keep it alive for long time only when cleaning aptasia when they are controled fish dies...
Some try to feed on clams but even feeding with gusto...they just dies.... Any adrice ? Some easy fishes from florida/ caribean are very hard to keep if collected in Brazil ..maybe our collectors are doing something very wrong....

I've also had no luck with that species. Your best bet would be live black worms.
Go for a Chaetodon humeralis, I have one in QT now at full strength copper and he eats great.
Are you QT'ing these fish? Because butterfly fish usually will not live very long if you have ich or other parasites in your tank.

I always QT to clean the fish (prazipro and cuprimine if necessary) and to adapt to feeding. Unfortunally here in Brazil we do have some limitations regarding feeding options... No pe mysis , no blackworms... Have live brine , live clams, frozen bloodworms and shrimp ...
Well hope to hear more stories on this fish keeping pratices...

I've never seen this fish kept in an aquarium that I can recall...

As mentioned, humeralis is an option. I really like the striping on my parachaetodons as well.
