banded shark

that will be too small even for a couple of years...i would suggest a minimal of at least 300 gallons, being at least 8' long...

I had a 12" banded shark in my 210 and it was ok in there but that was too small and I didn't keep it very long. I agree with the guys above saying not in a 125.

years ago I had the same thought and purchased one for my 150 (same as a 125 just taller). I ended up feeling really bad for the shark after just a year. Thankfully my lfs was able to take it of my hands for me. I wouldnt make that mistake agian and recommend you dont try it either.

Jeez people really need to learn how to explain instead of saying no way. The bamboo car shark or brown banded cat shark gets to big. The max out at about 35-40 inches. This is considerably larger than your 18 inch wide tank. Also fir sharks Gallonage isn't as important as tank dimensions. The tank should be minimum of 10 ft long 4ft wide and 2ft tall. So I would say your tank is a little small

My LFS has a Epaulette shark in a 400 gallon cube. This is one happy fish and he is full grown, definitely plenty of room. The LFS got in a baby female to live with the adult, but she was way to small, so they decided to grow her out in a 55. She doubled her size in a year but was still fine in the 55, sadly the lid was left off of her tank one night and she ended up on the floor. :(

I have a 125 and would never buy one because I feel at a minimum you would need the depth of a 180 for an adult. Realistically though you could keep one happy for a year or two IMO, however you couldn't keep it long term so I would wait until you have at least a 180. That is a lot of fish to expect someone else to care for in a year or two, especially since most would want to grow theirs from an egg. In addition to that you are talking about a $40 egg (if I'm not mistaken) and most people who can afford to house a shark would probably want a Epaulette shark, or some other more desirable species.

Basically I think the answer to your question is yes; but it would be highly irresponsible to due this withought having a larger tank to move it into. IMO
