Banggai Cardinal Eggs

Hey all. My Banggai Cardinals are breeding now and I think we may have messed up. We were trying to make sure the eggs or possible fry was in the mouth and when we gave a gentle squeeze they eggs popped out. Looking for suggestions on how to raise the eggs. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks,
Cole

It would be difficult to replicate what the male does. You would need a kriesel to keep the eggs aerated and tubling. I have read of a few people trying to artificially hatch banggai eggs and I have never seen any successes at it. I'm sure that it is possible, I'm just saying I don't think it is going to be easy.
I would gues that you would need some antifungal and antibiotic in the water to keep the eggs from going bad.
I tried to answer your question last night but the serever was so slow that I gave up on loading new pages.
Congrats on having a spawning pair of banggai

Do a search for egg tumbler. Basically you need some way of aerating the eggs and gently moving them as they develop.

Don't fret...they should repeat the process in the near future and you can try again. Basically don't mess with the male until he is ready to release the eggs. Then move the fry into a seperate tank and feed.

At this point unfortunately I think the eggs won't make it. In the future, you can try an egg tumbler or kriesel, but it would be best if the male carried the eggs. I've tried using an egg tumbler and the eggs went bad after about 5 days. My male still will not hold more for more than 10 days, so I will try to remove the eggs after 10 days to move the eggs into an egg tumbler next time they breed because I'm hoping that will be enough time to get the eggs far enough along so that at least some can survive to fry.
Good luck.
