Banggai Cardinal question

I've had a mated pair of Banggai Cardinals for about 2 years. (They were having babies in my tank and everything). Sadly I lost one of them yesterday.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to try and find a new mate. Will mine accept a new one? Should I more than one to increase the chances of accepted and pairing up with a new one? Or should I just leave the one I have alone in the tank?

This stinks. They were so happy together. :(

Puffers, sorry about your loss.
Good to hear that you were having success with them breeding.

Your remaining Banggai should accept another mate, however try and source a captvive bred for better chances of survival.
You should be able to tell if the new mate has been accepted, as if rejected or the opposite sex, then it will be cowering in a top corner of the tank.
If not removed, then it will likely be harrassed to death.

Good luck

i would just keep a single, unless you are willing to get a batch. There is no good way to tell sexes apart, so, you'd just have to throw some in and hope they figure it out.

As stated, only buy captive. People who buy wild caught bangaiis are really ignorant.
