Update batch 3 (12):
Batch #3 continues to do good they are eating frozen cyclopeeze and BBS. Sorry about the algae on the bottom of the tank. LOL
Update on parents. One of my breeding males died this month, so only one breeding pair remains. So far they seem to have stopped their breeding cycle. Maybe due to the cooler weather.

agsansoo, I know nothing about that sort of thing, but on the earlier pictures, we can see quite a few aiptasia in your tank. given that even hydoids might be problematic for the fry, wouldn't be the anemone even worse?

Not to sure I understand the question. The aiptasia were removed last month when I did a complete cleaning of the tank. I don't think the fry fear anemones. When the male parent spits out the fry in my display tank, some of them head to my large ritteri anemone for shelter.

Update batch 3 (11):
Batch #3 continues to do good they are eating frozen cyclopeeze and BBS. This weekend I cleaned out the refugium on my main reef tank and donated my last maroon clown baby to my LFS. :AddEmoticons04232:
Then I transfered the last of my banggai's to my refugium today. Here's the photos !

Update batch 3 (5):
The move this weekend to the refugium did not go so well. The pump that feeds the fuge was way to strong. All was fine until I shut the pump off to feed the fry BBS. After a hour or so I started the pump back up and the fry were tossed around to much. I lost 6 fry due to stress !

:(

I then placed a small ball valve on the pump return line to reduce the flow by 50%.

Update batch 3 (5):
Fry are starting to eat live adult brine shrimp. Hopefully I can get them eating frozen food soon.
Look at their fat bellies. LOL

Feeding Time !

How long did it take your Banggai to accept frozen food? I started shaving mysis around week 4 and gradually reduced the BBS till they were just eating mysis.

You can grow your own Tigger Pods, they are prolific. I have a large culture now that I started from about 8-10 Pods. Mine eat flake food if you don't have Isochrysis. They are in 'green water' now but they don't eat it. It's suspended on low flow so it might be Tetraselmis instead of Nanochloropsis.

They look good...Congratulations.

Tim

Hi,
I have a bottle of tigger pods(2L) and a 2L of phyto i bought at my lfs. I was wondering if i could raise more pods with these. The ones i bought are live but i've been told to put the bottle(and the phyto) in the fridge to keep.
Would they still be alive and can you help me on how to raise them?
I'd like to have more since i just syphoned out 22 bangaii frys from my 180g tank.

I just picked up 5 tank raised Juvi Bangaiis. I would like to let them pair off and try a few breeding pairs. Since I have time to complete the cultures, was there somewheren the thread where you mentioned this? If more people start breeding these things, hopefully the days of removing these guys from the Ocean could be over.

That's a good question. I have no idea how to raise tigger pods. I've only feed my BBS (baby brine shrimp) at first. Then BBS with frozen cylopeeze. Then BBS with live adult brine shrimp. Now they're eating frozen mysis. :D

I just read another thread, sorry I can't find which one now, that was talking about trying to raise the tigger pods. According to a response in the thread it would take somewhere of up to a month for them to reproduce. So unless you're going to feed what you have to them, I dont think you'll be able to have them for this culture. Cyclopeeze or BBS or shaved misys might be your best option.

Could you post a few more pics of your females please? I am trying to determine if the bengaii I have is a female or male. I keep running into conflicting information and it is so darn hard to tell the difference between the two.
To me, your males have the straight jawline down from the mouth with a slight pouch that extends from the mouth down.

Other than buying a bunch and paring them off to see what is male or female, how else were you able to determine their sex?

Here's a film of my 2 Bangaii preparing to mate. The one chasing the other and going on each sides and shaking is the female. I chose the couple by just watching them at the LFS for a while. They kind of hung out together. I bought a 3rd one just in case i was wrong but i had chosen the right ones. I sold the other one which like i tought at the lfs was a male. They look pretty much the same unless the male is carrying eggs.

Thanks, that helped out a bit. I will send the link to the person I buy from when he gets some more bengaiis in and ask them to watch for a similar pattern from them so when I get more I can hopefully pick out a pair or a least a female for my male.
