I had bought 2 clowns and 2 cardinals(med-lg) and had them in a 29g cycled QT tank. 2 days later, one had died. Looked like wound marks on it, I couldnt tell for sure. They all came from the same tank at the LFS.

I dont know how aggressive these fish can be towards each other. Just wondering if anyone ever known these fish to kill their own kind.

The remaining 3 still looks fine and is eating well.

No ammonia and no medication..... I dosed some prazi just now.

If you had two females they sure will. I've seen two males with one female but they normally live on opposite sides of the tank from each other.

Thanks Brett, maybe that was it. I just tried sexing them by looking for the vents, but couldnt get a good look. The other one is in the trash already.

Maybe I will just try a pair from DD later on.

These fish are incredibly hard to sex from my research. I had a pair off Divers Den and one of them died after a few weeks in QT. I was looking to buy another one to pair with the old one but it's really hard to sex them.

I think they would be easier to sex when they are bigger but unfortunately these guys are always sold at a tiny size. Its awesome that they are captive breeding them, they seem to be healthier this way but they also are sold at a small size.

I have had quite a few now, and have never been able to sex them properly. We have lost 3 now because they keep killing each other (one could have been something else, looks like his stomach exploded) Even buying these in pairs doesnt seem to help.I love them though, just buy a set of 4 and expect to only have 2 by the end of it. You can also buy an urchin and watch them breed, its very cool.

It can happen, but is the exception, and I wouldn't expect that in a tank this size.

There's really no good way to sex them until you see one carrying eggs.
