I need some advice on my bangii pair. Came home from work today to find my female laying on her side on the bottom. Her fins were shredded and she was gasping. Her eyes are a bit cloudy but I see no signs of disease. As I was figuring what to do the male attacked her and chased her around the tank. I fed them yesterday and she was fine. They have been together in a reef since birth and are almost 2 yrs old. I recently got them from a local reefer and have them in a 40B frag tank. I have had them for about 4 months and with improved feeding they spawned last month but the male spit them on about day 4/5. The only other fish are a small pair of clowns. The clowns were showing no interest in her.
Had anyone had a mate attack like this before. I am really thinking it was the male picking on her. I got an important phone call shortly after seeing her tonight and had to talk with one hand and use a scraper to keep him separated as he was constantly after her. She is in a container now and not likely to make it. Floating nose down and now barely breathing. If she comes around I am going to put her in a breeders net. I was excited to get a new spawn so now I am definately discouraged.
Thanks
Daniel
