Bangstick

They are illegal here in FL though you can buy all the parts and put one together yourself. The question is why would you want one? They are not good for anything but killing sharks and I can't think of a good reason to do that. Even spearfishermen here have very little trouble with them, if they are common in an are we just send the fish up with a lift bag and someone on the boat gets them out of the water. If you don't have the fish with you there is no reason to be afraid of the sharks, I see them at least one out of every 3 dives, and unless I have a fish with me they just ignore me.

No.... after watching the movie Shark water.... I would never want to kill a shark unless it was a life threat. My buddy spear fishes and was worried about having the fish with him and not bringing them up to the boat right away. I think he wanted one for that reason in case a shark came after him.... not to intend to kill one....

When we hunt in waters that are known to have sharks we use a lift bag and send each fish up to the surface as soon as they are shot. Someone on the boat gets the fish out of the water and we never have to deal with curious sharks. If you are alone Which sometimes we do, we send the lift bag to the surface on the anchor line. Every once in a while we will lose a fish if it is on the anchor line, but never when someone is on the boat.

I'm not sure where your friends are fishing, but let them know it is illegal to possess a bang stick on FL reefs, and if they get caught they could lose all their equipment including the boat they are fishing from.

OK THANKS FOR THE INFO.... WHEN EVER THEY ARE SPEAR FISHING THERE IS NEVER ANYONE IN THE BOAT..... I DONT SEE HIM SPEAR FISHING IN FL ANYTIME SOON AND AS IN TEXAS LAW.... THEY ARE LEGAL TO HAVE.... HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE OTHER REASON HE WANTED ONE WAS FOR THE LAGER FISH ....NOT SHARKS..... SO HE WOULDNT HAVE TO FIGHT THEM AS MUCH....
