Bar 300DD with fish room

The left side opening is for a small 24"x60" refrigerator in case anyone was wondering. Cold beers and fish food!

My contractor ROCKS! Drywall is up and the stand is level. It will not even move! The opening is going to be extremely tight. My measurements had the width of the tank at 72 3/16 and we have 72 5/16" in the front. So far I am very happy with the progress and I have a lot more room than I expected in the fish room. Here are some pictures.

The third picture is the fish room. I am standing in a closet that goes under the stairs. It is a nice sized room we use for storage, but could use for fish accessories if needed. To the right of the stand we will have a 36" x 24" x 18" frag tank. Next to that the refrigerator will come back about 24". Continue moving around the wall back to the concrete there will be a utility sink and three 55 gallon barrels coming along the wall for water storage. The main drain line for the house is the PVC in the picture. I want to tap into that for automatic water changes.

Anyone know a good place to order those DJ power strips? I was also wondering if there is a fan that we could put in there that not only exhausts air/humidity but could also pull air into the room in the winter if needed?

Hoping to pick up the tank on Wednesday, if not then next weekend. Rock comes tomorrow so I will be doing some rock work in the evening. That is it for now, thanks for tagging along!

The main part of the construction is complete! Tank goes in today. I decided to hire some movers to move this monster. I figured the experience + insurance is well worth the added expense. My back thanks me! Not a whole lot going on this week other than mud, more mud, sanding, and a BIG MESS! Last night we got it primed and I have been picking up equipment this week. Here is a list so far:

-3 Coralvue 400 watt balast
-3 Lumen Bright single ended mini WIDE
-Hammerhead pump
-Three Tunze 6101 - Total I will have 4 Tunze and 1 MP40
-ACIII Pro w/Aqua Surf, 2x DC8's, PX1000 expansion, & I/O Breakout plus 2 pH probes and 2 ORP probes
-Delzone Eclipse 1 220v Ozone with dryer
-50 lbs of BRS Dry rock - currently curing

On order:
-another 100 lbs of Dry rock from Marco
-24" x 36" custom built frag tank
-40 gallon quarantine tank with complete set up (skimmer, PH's, heater, 250 MH, T5's, etc)

About to order:
-2 48" reef brite LED supplement lights
-3 14K Ushio 400w bulbs or save money and get the reeflux 12K?
-Octopus 5000xp cone external skimmer (still debating this versus the Super reef 6000Ext) ANY SUGGESTIONS?????
-SAND: 3 bags of Tropic Eden Miniflake (argonite crumb, 2mm) - 90 lbs and 1 bag Reeflakes (argonite flakes, 3.5mm) - 30 lbs

I would appreciate any feed back on the list - especially the skimmer, sand, and my supplemental lighting. I was torn on going with 14K or 20K Ushios and now I am thinking of saving about $20/light and going with the Reeflux. I have heard that are very good lights with a nice blue color. From what I understand, the reef brite LED's all blue are extremely bright lights and should supplement with the blue we really like. Currently we have the radium 20K with a figi purple and blue plus T5 supplement.

Looks like a excellent build and planned very well. Do you have any HVAC system in place in the fishroom? Also, will you have a utility sink and access to water in this area?

Thanks! Yes we are going to have a vent fan and a utility sink. HVAC runs through there but there is not a vent. Should I add one? It is pretty cool in the basement.

The main drain to the house is back there as well. I hope to have all water changes automated running waste water directly to the drain. Not sure whether to split off the main return pump or have separate pumps. I plan to place 3 55 gallon drums back there - 2 for RO/DI and 1 for SW.

We got the tank here! Yes I am now about 5 beers deep after that move! Luckily I had 3 friends here to help the movers. Better safe than sorry! The beautiful wife spent the day painting before putting it in. Electrician is here now.

Congrats. That's a great milestone - the mermaid shot I mean!

Looking good so far!

Are you going to allow side or front access?
Getting at stuff in these tanks from just the front or back is a real bear with the 36" depth.

We are going to definitely have access to the front, but your idea of having access on the side is WELL recieved! I was going to match the front design to the side, so why not keep the access. Sometimes the little things are what keep you sane after the build!

It is amazing how much time goes by when you are doing a build. I was originally thinking that it would be running in three/four weeks from getting tank, YEAH RIGHT! lol

Anyway, sorry I have not been updating much. Not a tremendous amount of progress, but progress non the less. Stands and everything are built, just need to finalize the plumbing and build the light rack (to get it running at least!). Here are some updated pics, I will explain some more maybe this evening.

Well, I did not do a very good job of keeping the build thread updated! It has been running since the beginning of June and is doing well. I had my phone die on me and all my build pictures are now gone... O'well. My electrical work and fish room are nothing to show off - very messy, also a reason I stopped posting pics, not something someone would want to duplicate, but safe according to my electrician...

Anyway, thought I would post a few shots of the tank. Aquascape is still a WIP, but getting there. Still need to finish the front tank surround and the bar ledge as well. Just thought I would post a few pics. Thanks to all those who followed for the short period.
