BAR Swap Item: True Red Zoos

I'm looking for the donor of the swap item 'True Red Zoos'. The clear plastic container that I got had 8 loose polyps in it. I really liked these zoos but I was not able to keep any of them alive. Maybe I could buy a small frag from you. :D

wow, sorry to here that.. hopefully you find that person. Or someone else can donate/sell you some.

I'd be fine if I could buy a small frag of it. It really was a good lookin' zoa.

You're water must be crystal clean or something is eating your zoa.

I divided the 8 loose polyps and attached them to two rubbles. And one by one, the polyps slowly melted away. I may just be a horrible fragger. :(

I got several zoanthids that day and they are all doing just fine.

have you checked your salinity, I've read somewhere it affects zoo's tremedously... don't know if this is true though. Now I am having the ZOA Pox issue that I am dealing with, medicating them with FURAN2

I seemed to have bad luck when attaching loose Zoa polyps. I do better attaching polyp clusters than single loose ones.

I usually run high on salinity due to high evaporation rate on my nano- no auto top off.

What are Zoa Pox and how would I know if I have them?

They are pretty nice aren't they? I had a real hard time fragging them which is why they were kinda loose and in small quantity. all you really need is 2 polyps. They spread out kinda fast. I started out with 4 polyps and had to really really really twist Eddie over at tropical paradise's arm to get those 4 polyps.

So it's you! :D

Andy, those were really nice zoas. I hope I'd get a second chance of having those beauties in my tank. If you could sell me a tiny 2-polyp frag (attached to a small rock) let me know.

Jeff

Now your asking a lot! I don't have time to mount 2 zoas! Did I not say they are very hard to frag? Maybe the stress of the fragging is what caused them to die. They are actually pretty hardy. Whats the going rate on red zoas these days anyway? Anybody? I'll see if I can mount them on some rubble tonight, I guess I should have these guys backed up somehow. Not making excuses but that means I gotta find my glue too... so much work!

Jim did mention that the red zoa's are fairly common now though. Actually are you sure you got mine or did others bring it too?

any pics of these zoas?

I was going to take some pictures when I first got them but I thought I'd wait a little longer until the polyps were fully opened. I guess I've waited too long. So, no pics from me.

These zoas were bright red- really bright!

Andy, I'm not sure if I got yours. But what I got was in a clear palstic container with a clear lid marked 'True Red Zoos'. It had 5 single loose polyps and (1) 3 loose polyp cluster.

Jeff

Yea sounds like what I wrote. I'll see if I can mount some on a rock tonight. But you'd drive all the way down from Sac to san francisco just for 2 polyps? I'll take a picture of the colony when I get home so you know what your really getting yourself into.

andy

If it was fairly convenient to meet up with Andy, I could do so on the weekends and bring it back to the Davis area for you Jeff.

I go back and forth from Davis to SF every weekend. Gas for 2 polyps from Sac to SF isn't worth it...

Don't know what "true red" means.. I have zoas.. they are red, although they do have a white dot in the center, they're the smaller variety though and not the larger palythoa sized ones.

A lot of so called red zoas are more orange than red. Also they seem to have other colors instead of just red.

I'd take it that True Red would be pretty much solid red. Not a whole lot of that kind around.

Hmm taking a second more closer look at my zoos I think your right, they are definitly more orange then red. I took a pix. Oh well I still like them! Anyone got pictures of really really red zoas? I mean not just the outter edges but the whole thing?
