Bare Bottom

Is it possible to keep a G Ternatensis in a bare bottom tank? It would only house this mantis, and it has a rather large rock that creates a nice little den of sorts under it

yes. G. ternatensis typically live inside branching coral colonies, but they will live under rock if there is no alternative.

Thanks. Im looking to take one to college with me. Ive had a reef tank for many years but I want to do something with a smaller tank I have lying around

If you are headed to UMBC, look up Tom Cronin. His lab is one of the most active in the world looking at stomatopod vision. We have worked together for years.
