Barnacle Blennies in pod pile?

Got some Barnacle Blennies in quarantine right now. They are great! Only one chose to live in a barnacle, two chose shells and two chose rock rubble. So my question is, when they get transferred to the DT, is there a risk of them moving into a pod pile? Has anyone had this happen?

Also has anyone tried adding some protective covering over the pod pile, like pantyhose or something?

They will settle where they feel most comfortable. Ours have settled in rocks, shells, coral skeletons and everywhere in between. When you introduce them to your tank you can try and guide them to a specific spot but it is up to them if they stay there.

Yes, they will find their own little hidey hole. In my case the little guy chose a crevice in the rocks near the back of my tank. :( I hardly ever saw it. They sure are adorable little fish and so much fun to watch. I've tossed around the idea of setting up a nano just for a few barnacle blennies.

Good luck with yours!
