barracuda

Whats your expierences with pets Wharehouse? They have some healthy looking fish but half there tanks don't even have the lights on. I've heard differing opinions. Whats up with one certain lfs that never posts prices or very rarely. I think they take advantage of a shopper that doesn't know when they are getting ripped off. Bill does the club still have monthly meetings? Definately have to check out Les's shop. Remember when he opened it up. He's a really nice guy. Tim

Haven't stepped in PW in quite some time, and won't say more than that on an open forum ;) As for that "one certain lfs", I've known different prices to be given to different people for the same fish or coral ;) As for the club, we're still meeting monthly (except this month). Next meeting is Jan 18th. http://www.longislandreef.org/

There is an LFS by me that had one for years in a 500g tank. It was about 3.5 ft long and ate like a son of a gun.

This was the owner's pride and joy, he had it in with a blue spotted ray and a HUGE snowflake eel. They all lived very well together.

He put in a super rare lionfish that was the size of a basketball and the barracuda and the lion got into it and one day they opened the shop up and the lions spines were all broken off in the barracuda's side.

Needless to say the barracuda was doing death rolls and lived for another ~8 hours.

Thats sad. Barracudas should be left in the ocean or public aquarium. The jap shark I speak of should probally almost be in the same category. Thanks Bill. I live all the way in Southampton so getting to the meetings is quite a trek. Tim

Tim,

I'm due north of you in Mattituck, so I know what you mean about the trek. Fortunately for me I work up island so I'm already most of the way there for Friday meetings.
