I wanted to purchase some bartletts. Do you know when you will have them ready for sale again? I also noticed that you don't sell male and female. Do we receive them as all females?

Thanks,

Robert

To let you know, I ordered 3 and recieved 3 males, 1 male has his tail basically gone, hoping it pulls through. Still eats well.

So what happens in a situation like yours T5? Can the males turn back into females? (I doubt it) Are your males all chillin or is there still conflict between them?

I saw your post about the brown dot.

DriftRtist,

Thank you for your interest in the Anthias. The availability of specimens is dependent on what we have available in our aquatics center, and this depends on what we are able to harvest from the wild and which tank raised specimens are available at the time. Our holding facility does receive daily shipments, so the stock can change from day to day. We are unable to give you a specific date as to when we will have the specimen in stock. Please feel free to click the “Email Me” link by the specimen you are interested in purchasing and we will send you an automated email as soon as it becomes available.

We apologize that we are unable to guarantee a specific gender of the specimen, as some of the items we offer are in their juvenile state and it is almost impossible to determine their sex. The gender of the specimen shipped is random and depends on what is available when your order is placed. If the dominant male perishes a female will morph in a male and take its place but once they changed they cannot change back.

t5Nitro, are the male Anthias adjusting to each other better now? We are glad to hear the injured one is eating well. You may want to soak your food in Garlic Juice before feeding the tank, as it will help boost his immune system and will help keep him eating. Please contact us if any more concerns come up.

If we can be of any additional assistance, please feel free to contact our Technical Support Department at 1-800-334-3699 or via email at TechSupport@drsfostersmith.com and we will be happy to answer any question(s) you may have.

DriftRtist, my bartletts are all staying males. The one with basically no tail seems to be getting less of a tail and I want to move him to the other tank or move the one picking on him, but I am going to need to wait until I transfer the yellow tang which I am not doing until Live Aquaria gets powder brown tangs in stock.

I am going to be contacting Live Aquaria and I'm sure they will get it worked out. By the way, you can tell the difference between male and female bartletts, it is not random.

live aquaria,

I was also looking at lyretails and had a question about them. Can you put the tonga/fiji females with a maldives male? Or is it better to just stick with the tonga/fiji male?

Thanks

t5Nitro,

Sorry for any confusion this may have caused regarding the specific gender of the Bartlett's Anthias. Though you are able to identify the male Bartlett's Anthias from the female Bartlett's Anthias by the different body characteristics each have, we are unable to guarantee that a specific gender of the Bartlett’s Anthias will be shipped to you when an order is placed. The gender of the specimen that is shipped to you is picked randomly from the holding tank and depends on what is available at our holding facility when your order is placed.

DriftRtist,

You are able to place the female Tonga/Fiji Lyretail Anthias into the same aquarium housing the male Maldives Lyretail Anthias. These specimens are compatible and basically differ in coloration and collection area.

If you have further questions or concerns please contact us.
