Base of Coral suddenly dying off and lost PE

18 month+ established tank and great growth, color, etc over the last 6 months.

About two months ago, I notice a spot of die off near the base of my Pearlberry that has been growing great. I've been watching this spot, and now it's spread to about 30% of the out side base. Not getting PE any longer either.
I've had a couple other pieces lose their PE and/or color.

Parameters have all shown stable, and many other pieces look normal and showing growth.

I've looked for pests, but I haven't seen anything. (at least I don't see red bugs) Not sure about AEFW.

Any thoughts?

Have you added anything new in the last 6 months? I recently discovered AEFW. Corals just started to look unhappy for no reason, and had some rough looking or dead patches. Started with my milles. They say they are milli magnets. Once they are established, its easy to see the bite marks. If your parameters are in order, I would look into AEFW, something nipping or stinging, or maybe something got in the tank. Do you run carbon?

No carbon.
I got to think it's aefw. Everything I read is taking about taking out corals and dipping. What are people doing when they are encrusted to rock

If you have AEFW, there's no option but to get all acros(or SPS for more insurance) and do the Bayer treatment.

Before you rule out params and jump on the AEFW train, make sure your tests are all accurate and probes/monitors/refractometers calibrated.

If it is just the base of your corals that are dying and you have pale colors, that is a indicator of coral starvation. Your nitrates and phosphates are both 0 for an extended period of time I am guessing. If you have patches of tissue missing all over your coral, you have a pest.

+1 going through the same as the OP but after feeding I see I little improvement buts it's only been a couple days lol good advice

Jump to conclusions much? AEFW from that? Lots of possibilities, and if AEFW me I'd avoid insecticide. 1 cosmetus wrasse and a few dancing shrimp and done.
