Base Rock Cleaning help

Just got 75 pounds of marco rocks today. For the base rock, how do you clean it off? Should I put all 75 pounds in a tub filled with water and let it soak or should it soak with something else also, like a water to something ratio?

Unfamiliar with marco rocks. What are they? Pic available? Live rock? Dead Rock? What are we talking about here?

All rock should at the very least be rinsed before placing in the tank. If it's live rock, than placing in a tub filled with saltwater is a good way to let it cure and die off properly.

It is base rock. Base rock that is basically identical to fiji LR, just base rock formed to look like it.

So it's a dead dry rock? If that's the case, then just rinse it off in some RO water and should be good to add to the tank.

It has to be RO water or can it be tap water? It would take so long to fill a tub up with RO water to let them sit in it.

Ya, it is rock that was man made to look like fiji rock. Not live or ever wet, dry. Thanks.

Are you sure its man made? I have about 50 lbs of it and I have a hard time believing that it is man made.

I have the marco rock. I just sprayed it with the hose good to remove dust, then put it in some saltwater (old waterchange water) in a big rubbermaid tote with a aquafilter and a couple maxijets. I let it soak for about 2 weeks before putting it in the tank with some live rock. Had hardly any cycle.
These are great rocks to aquascape--great shapes and form.
Have fun~~

If it is indeed base rock I can hardly see the point of letting it soak for two weeks, a simple rinse would be fine.

True, but I wanted to get a headstart on getting the rock seeded while setting up the tank. Hence, I soaked it. It was pretty dirty, with brown water that needed changed twice. This rock is pretty light with lots of holes, nooks and crannies. Hard to clean well by just spraying.

Was glad that diry water was in a tub and not in my display~
