Tim, have you experimented with running the return and skimmer off the same pump yet? I am interested in the results.

I just finished my basement setup last weekend. I have my skimmer in the 100gal stock tank and I have no problems with micro bubbles. The 100 is big enough that the bubbles make their way to the top before they reach the outlet. I was glad it worked because baffling those tanks could be a challenge.

Yeah, what pump are you running for your return? i have a very simular setup that i'm building and would love to run my skimmer and chiller off the same return. I have an iwaki md100rlt w/around 12ft. of head loss. Also i will be feeding my refugium with that same supply. The only thoughts i have against feeding the skimmer off of the same pump are 2 things...i am moding my etss reef devil w/a beckett and it requires a bit more pump and 2,upgrading to a larger skimmer in the future requiring even more pump. I guess as long as it's valved i can close it off if needed.

what about putting the skimmer in the fuge and some rock in the pump tub that way you can reduce micro bubbles.
acutally instead of running the skimmer off a pump you could run it off your overflow (thats an aquac 120?).
