Basic Frag Tank Recommendations

I want to convert an extra 10 gallon tank into a very basic frag tank. I have fragged my zoa colonies and I want the frags out of my DT since it looks cluttered now. Here is the plan, please make any other recommendations:

1. Bare bottom with egg crate/pvc rack.

2. Four 50/50 mini Compact Flourescents, all I have right now.

3. One powerhead, not sure how big yet. Any recommendations?

4. Heater

Main question is will I need filtration or a skimmer on this since I wont have any fish and the bioload will be minimal?

Thanks guys.

I used my PVC rack as a spray bar, and hooked my powerhead up underneath the bottom layer of egg crate to the PVC. If its there, you might as well use it right? As for the skimmer, I wouldn't. You could use a HOB filter for carbon, phosban, etc.

Is space prohibitive to you linking this tank to the display or sump tanks?

Not really space, but the "Mrs" wont allow it haha, you guys know how that goes. I am going to put it in the basement, DT is on the main floor. I do have a small HOB filter that I can use for carbon and phosban, good call.

I don't really ask permission. I go with the whole better to beg forgiveness than ask permission approach. Besides...the 8'x6' space my tank occupies is mine. :) There's no room for a frag tank underneath your display tank in the stand though?

Just to be clear, my system is 4 tanks, and is spread out over an 8'x6' footprint. I wish I had one tank that was that large.

I wish I had the room you do....or should I say I need to adopt your attitude of "I go with the whole better to beg forgiveness than ask permission approach."
When I showed her the 110g tank on Craigs list she ask where I was going to put...............Hmmmm, maybe I should just go for it!!!

:D

I was told we need a bigger house.......

I just told her if that was the case then we needed to get rid of some of her furniture and we'd have more room.

Haha.

Furniture is so overrated anyway. After all, without some nice scenery to take in from the furniture, why entertain guests? A phone call at that point would work out just as well I'd say...

Oh and the happy ending to that story is that now I have my 10 gallon kicker tank sitting beside and plumbed into my reef system..........YYYEEeesssss!!! :D

There isn't any room under my stand, I have a 20 gal long sump and a 5 gallon ATO reservoir under it.

I think what I am envisioning will work alright, I will post pics of the process.
