Basic Hospital Tank Set-Up Assistance

Work In Progress
So my fish is sick and I want to make a hospital tank to administer meds to him. I wanted to make sure this set-up is ideal.

1. 10 Ga, I took water from the main tank
2. Heater
3. Fake coral from the main tank
4. Substrate in a bag floating in the water
5. Small Tetra BioFilter for 10 ga tank, removed carbon

Is this enough aeration for the tank or should I add a powerhead or a air pump? I have an air pump with a stone I can place in there if I needed. Any advice will be helpful. This is my first time setting one up

Which model Tetra biofilter are you using? Does it have floss or a sponge of some sort for the biological filtration?

I would add an airstone or powerhead as I like plenty of water motion.

You need some sort of top to make sure the fish doesn't jump. It could be as simple as a piece or two of acrylic from Home Depot. They sell 11x14 (approximately) sheets for $4 each.

Lighting can be a regular room light nearby.

The fish needs some place to hide. I use PVC piping from Home Depot, a 3" Tee and a 4" elbow. It doesn't sound like your fake coral will provide hiding space.

Do you mean you took some sand or gravel from the main tank and put it in a bag? Much substrate binds copper and other forms of medications, so most people don't put them in a hospital tank.

It is a good idea to put your hospital tank/quarantine tank somewhere it doesn't get constant household traffic.

Don't move anything from your hospital tank to the display tank (substrate, fake coral) without a good washing (dilute bleach solution, good rinsing, and complete air drying for a week or more).

It is a Tertra WHisper 10i.

I have a egg crate top with a rock on top of it. Not going to jump out.

I put a large fake coral in there.

I only put like a half a cup to a cup of substrate from the main tank.

Thanks for the help!
