Hey Everyone !

Last december, i see a Liopropoma carmabi on a local fish importer list. I decided to command the fish. When the fish arrived, the color look not to bad. When i put in my tank, my Acanthop don't stop to chase him and for the first month, i don't see my new fish. When i finally see my fish, the color look more pale. Since this time, the color not really come more flash !
This week, i make some pictures search for confirm of my fish is really a candy Basslet and know i'm confused !

All pictures i see of the swalesi have no black dots on tale but all pictures i see of candy cane have no dot on lower fin !

You are right, I can't find any images of Swalesi with the black dots. Im far from an expert, hopefully someone else has a definitive answer.

Hi.

that's a Liopropoma swalesi. the grey snout and the less colourful orange and grey-ish stripes are characteristics of swalesi. given time, the colour will improve.

L. carmabi is a bright orange and pink. it's unmistakable, and is from the carribean. swalesi is from the indo-pacific

the black blotch on the tail is probably just a variation.

it's undoubtably not a hybrid since there's too much swalesi characteristics and no other characteristics of other liopropoma sp. besides, no hybrids of liopropoma have been recorded as far as i know.
