Batch treatment with LaCl

Does anyone have any information about batch treating saltwater with LaCl? I thought is that I could pretreat water for a water change or top off. My tap water has >1.0ppm PO4. I was think I could and LaCl, mix, let it settle, then decant.

Wouldnt a RODI be cheaper and easier in the long run? I would be worried about the precip from the LaCL getting out of the bucket.

I agree, I bet significant nitrates, chlorine, fluoride, metals and a bunch of other junk is in your tap water as well. Invest in an RO/DI system, is my recommendation.

I have an RODI, but the water pressure here sucks. Guess I'll have to switch to bottled.

you can always buy a booster pump. they will help with the water pressure issue, cost around $150.

+1 on the booster pump. After adding one my TDS out of my membrane (pre DI) is around 2, which extends life on my DI resin by a TON. I'm very happy with my booster pump addition.
