battery backup questions

Hello we are planning to move back down to FL and wanted to run one of my 6100 on a battery to keep my lifestock happy on the trip down. this will also serve as a power backup in case of power outages which are inevitable in Fl. This is what i was planning on getting:

- Tunze safety connector
- sealed lead acid battery
- This charger: http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-500ma-sealed-lead-acid-battery-charger-2.html or this solar one: http://www.batterystuff.com/solar-chargers/SP60-12.html

I cant decide on which charger. The solar would be a PITA to setup but could come in handy in longer power outages such as during a hurricane.

What do you think? Am i missing anything? Oh ... and can i run a Tunze 6000 instead to consume power?

The 6100 will not work with the safety connector, only the newer models like 6101 and 6105 will work with the safety connector. Realistically after a day or two, heat will probably kill the corals so don't be obsessed with longevity. The most a pump only will get you through is likely 48-72 hrs. After a hurricane it is usually hot and ice is a scarcity.

Ah, thats too bad, i have 6100.100 pumps :(

Is there any way of running these in a vehicle? Maybe with one of those power inverters you hook up to the cigarette lighter? Any suggestions?

It isn't impossible but it is unlikely, if the Hz frequency went very high or the power surged it could damage the pump, this is only likely, with a really low quality inverter.
