Go with the 180 if that is what you have equipment for...the equipment is what costs the most anyway...the livestock aint cheap either. You can always upgrade later on if you want to and can afford it still.

KvcGsxr600: I would get the 180 now, and as you have time and money, buy equipment that will be able to be used in your next (giant) tank... at least that is what I am doing, you know, looking for good deals on used stuff here on RC

Yeah I think I will do the 180 for now and then just start gathering equipment on here. I'm not sure how big I will eventually go, but when I do I want to do it right. On another subject what is everyone's opinion on lighting for a fish only 180? My thoughts were either t-5's or maybe a 4 bulb VHO retro kit from ice cap. I will probably be wanting to spend around 400 to 500. In that price range the VHO looked nice, but I wasnt sure if it would be enough light. I will be selling my 120 gal to get my new lights, that is the only upgrade I will need. I have a 55 gallon sump with a 9010 tunze skimmer and a two little fishies phosban reactor. I am probably gonna need another reactor too though so I will just T the flow and run two from one powerhead. Oh and I forgot, I'm trying to stay away from doing MH that is why I chose the VHO retro kit.

MJPELIKAN what are the dimensions of your 210? I looked into the 200 range but you really only get about a foot more, which is why I was thinking of going bigger.

it is 2' longer then my 110, and 6" taller

and as a side note... plumbing leaks SUCK!!! luckily all but one are in between shutoff valves...

I would recommend making your own carbon or phosban reactor... it was easy!

I have had some issues with temperature swings, so all my hard corals have sadly gone the way of... well, a bunch of dead hard coral. So i am going to just reuse the lighting that is currently on the 120, until I get enough $ to add some extra side lighting...

Are you freshwater testing your tank? The 120 I have is 60L x 18W x 26H

Sortof... I dumped all the salt I had left in the tank before I filled it... that was cool! there were layers of salinity, that is, super saturated bottom layer, and just RO water at the top... and all sorts of happieniess between... then i put a power head in and watched it... very neat!

I am heating the water and will get the salinity correct either tonight or tomorrow and then tomorrow I will fix the leaks... and then see where I am at.

Great pic of the tang, they are so beautiful. I was actually lookin into getting one of those sailfins as well, I assume it is a dejardins. Im not sure if thats how you spell it but you get it.

My wife hates those fish, she says with the bump on it's nose it's too human like. There's a big one at MS and she steers clear of the tank so she doesn't have to see the fish with the human face. She's lucky she's cute!

you have to dose the tank w/ vodka and get the fish drunk. then give it a nice dinner and maybe a late movie and then slip in the yawn and put your arm around the fish and sex the fish

Im not for sure but it is 2 diffrent tangs. I would say female that is the sex tangs go to when there's only one I think?

Hey Nook when are you introducing you live rock to the new tanks?

IMO I'd go with a tank of at least 400 gallons and up for this fish. And not fill it to the top with LR. Swimming room is the question here, how much room does a fish need to roam around and have a place to defend + to hide in.

In your case KvcGsxr600, I'd go with the 180 for now OR start saving and planning on a "BIG" tank design to house this fish and other that you will end up getting, cause we all do. Remember a fishes health deos depend on it happiness and well being, if it feels threated do to a shortage of space it will remain slightly stressed out, always defending it's terf so to speak. Once again these are nothing more than IMO's. I'm no expert in the field of fish, just a hobbiest like everyone else.

One of these days or years I still need to drop about $2-3K on some sand and drygoods before all systems are go.
