battleing rock anemones/aptasia

hello fellow reefers,

I am looking for a way to remove the rock anemones in one of my customers tank that is out of control. there are a few aptasisa and i have always had good success with using kalk and a syringe, but when you are taking on hundreds at a time in a 125 i am open for suggestions. I do not want to try copperbands due to me haveing a low success rate on keeping them alive, or the carpet anemone eating them. i am considering other butterflies or angel fish but not sure what would be the most effective. i am already planing on removeing some of the rock,where large outbreaks are. these guys are all over the place so that will give me a jump start.

any suggestions? let me know

i have treid joe's before not that good of results. how does lemon juice affect water qualtiy? there has got to be a better way then to attack 1000 or so rock anemones individually.

Berghia nudibranchs are very effective (that's all they eat), but you have to remove the nudibranchs when they run out of anemones. At least one anemone will survive, so the plague will return.

You might try peppermint shrimp for long term control, if they don't have corals like zoanthids -- occasionally peppermints have a wide range of taste. But they work slowly.

Just about any butterfly will eat them, esp. Raccoon's. Find one they like and try that. The only problem with that would be corals in the tank as they may go for them.

I've got all three in my tank, berghia, peppermint and copper banded Bf and have finally gotten mine under control. Joe's seems to work only as a temp basis I've found out.

Joes elimited the Majonos in my tank completely. The aiptasia did come back though. The Majanos did not. So meh... enjoy.

My tank was not infested like yours but had a few and every time I took them out with Joe's juice they always came back. Then I bought a Goldflake Angel and in 1 day they where all gone never seen them again, and yes I do have coral LPS, SPS, big clam and zoo's he leaves all alone. The only thing that I know he did get is all the eyelashes of the poly's and just the nice one he doe's go for the ugly brown one's that I don't want little buger
