I was given 250 pounds of fiji live rock. only catch is it has lots of algae. I have time to sit on it so what can i do to get rid of the algae. I assume cover it up so it is dark. any other ideas?. I would realy appreciate any ideas

People cook there rock by putting it in a dark container for several weeks and flushing the water every week. If you do a search on rock cooking you will find more info.

Cook it. If you run a search on cooking rock, there are threads with detailed methods on how to eliminate algae and phosphates from LR -- basically you want to put the rock in a large container (Rubbermaid bin for example) with heat, circulation and NO light. Periodically remove the rock, swish it clean in a series of buckets, change the water in the larger container and wait. I'm not sure how long it takes, weeks at least, but people swear by this method.
