BB coraline explosion ?

Man, since going BB my coraline exploded over the bottom. I think it's been about close to 2.5 to 3 months now. Check it out.

Is this the norm? Should I just let it go or does anyone clean it off? It's everyone now more than I had with sand. I put some streams in about 1.5 months ago and they're covered too.

Thanks, Sean.

My tank is only a month or 2 old but the coraline on the bottom for some reason seems to be growing faster than anywhere else. At this rate it'll be completely covered befroe the back and sides are even half covered. My friend Tim zapata41's tanks is just about solid on bottom

mine isd a BB system but has very little coraline algea. the tank is only 3 months old i think :) But there is many dots on the startboard.

It's interesting because in spots in my tank where the sand has blown away to expose some glass at the bottom, those spots are covered with coralline, moreso than any other area in the tank. I wonder what it is about the bottom.......

pretty sure flow is a factor for coralline. If there is enough flow to move the sand then the coralline will grow faster in that spot.

Emoezekielsr5, nice shot!

I think light and flow are a factor for the bottom. Direct light and clean surface to grow! I'll have to post a pic of my streams...their turning pink! I wonder where are our ca is going too - feeding the coraline!

In my cube. I have 2xSeio1500 and 1x1000 a long with the return. I think flow has a big factor in coraline growth. I have no dead spots in my tank where detrius can accumulate. I've only had my tank setup for 3 months now and the only thing that I can factor in that really helped my coraline growth is dosing magenesium and keeping it at 1300pm and dripping kalk.
