BB Phyto-generator tank for bivalves?

If you took a tank and put nothing in it, set it up to be a phyto generator 24/7, could you keep some of the more difficult bivalves, ie, non photosynthetic?

Thanks,

Here's a good thread on culturing phyto and other plankton. For bivalves, Isochrysis is the preferred algae. It's prone to contamintation, so it doesn't do well in an open tank type environment. 2L soda bottles, however, are easy to clean and make good culture vessels. A little filter floss stuffed in the neck will help keep out contaminants.
