I'm sorry but I won't be able to attend today. My wife wants me to powerwash the siding on our house. The last time I did this it was an all day job. I hope you all have a nice time and I look forward to meeting you next month.
Steve I'll Have you know not to make you feel "bad" but my wife and I have gone to a lot of trouble to put this together on short notice, and since you were the one "pushing" to get "A group" together I feel you should make a point to come and meet the group! Your wife is welcome as well. I feel backing out at this time is in poor judgment but that is just my opinion! I think you will find the guy's and gal's in this group can be some what entertaining! I will get off my soap box now! Hope to see you this afternoon....Patrick
I know you are joking, right? I knew you were going to chicken out, but take it like a man and don't have your wife making excuses for you. I probably wouldn't ask Pat or myself for any favors anytime soon, if I were you, that is pretty low in my book. I just got back from vacation, have all kinds of things to do still, but yet, I can still find the time to hang out a little with some of my friends and still get what I have to do done, you must be lazy or just slow. Well, have a good day power washing your house, I would say "see you at the next meeting", but you'll probably not show up for that one too. I'm off to get things done, so I can make the meeting.

With respect, I doubt your wife woke up this morning and spontaneously required the house be powerwashed -TODAY-. It was probably either thought out in advance and as such should've been planned different to accomidate Pat's hospitality, or at worst case scenario can afford to wait until next weekend? Just doesn't strike me as an urgent maintenance issue.
My $.02 is, while things got off to a weird start, show up and we'll all just try and move on and forget about it. I think we'll have more respect for you if you *try* to make it, as Pat's offer to host was more than generous... rather than flake out at the last minute to clean the house.

Sorry I couldn't make it today. I'm not going to make excuses, except for the party tomorrow!!! Anyway, see you at the next meeting for sure.
