Bean Animal silent overflow...

I have read through the 7000 pages of this but Im looking for some help in modding this just a little.

My tank has an external glass overflow that only has 2 outlets...One main and one backup. Both holes are cut on the bottom of the overflow not the backsides. Is using this type of overflow going to be possible?

Right now Im using the Hofer but really dont like how easy it is for it to get clogged...

Bean's design is basicaly an improvement on the "Herbie" drain. With two overflow lines you can not make Bean's system, but the Herbie overflow should work. In any case, it will be more silent than any stockman or durso system, since it is a siphon system.

With two holes your stuck with the Classic Herbie, which btw works perfectly fine.

I never looked at the design in detail but dont understand the need for the 3rd drain. I would have to read the thread to see what the advantage is. With the Herbie, you have one at full siphon, and the 2nd as the backup. That seems perfectly adequate.

agreed sjm817. its an extra extra backup. a little excess if you ask me. with the herbie, if the first syphon clogs the durso will turn into another full syphon to handle the extra.

id have to throw the sunday paper in my tank for it to overflow.

Thanks for the input on the Herbie....With a bit of time on the adjustment side this thing works great....It is completely silent!!
