I find it funny that the same people are always calling us old timer's and trying to make reason of pricing and frags. i come and go in this forum, and there's a handfull of guys still around when i joined RC. Happy to see that the handful are still here and still trying to get other reefers to understand. Mucho, 650, organism and a few others. thank you for all you have brought to this forum and continue to bring. I dont argue price, i find it comical people pay those price's. each to their own. i love frags myself. but love letting them grow into colonies. i dont frag my zoa's\palies. never got into the hobby to make money or make money back. i am a TRUE hobbiest and love seeing full grown tanks. lol and one day i will take the time to post some pictures

Who decides what a true hobbiest is? Some people enjoy fragging? And some people like myself don't do it with intent to profit but to help share some of our corals with others. You can still let a colony grow and only take a couple polyps to give to a friend or yes, sell it for a few bucks to help fund your hobby. That's what I do at least. Although I will agree some people seem to frag a piece every tine there's a new growth on it with intent to make some profit and that does get kind of annoying to see them for sale in the forum or around town for $10 pp and I've seen upwards of $100pp which is ridiculous. They don't even grow them just sell one polyp frags the day after they cut them. Any who I felt like ranting too because people looking to make money give people like me a bad name. I'm not in this hobby for a quick buck I love everything about my tank. I stare at it all day when I'm not working lol

this isnt to go into fragging and all that. sorry if any of it leads any other direction then what it's meant, the dead horse comment is that it is good to still see these guys so passionate about zoa's/palies almost a decade later. read alot of your guys post. from styles, thoughts and opinions. i'm currently almost done stocking my tank now. once it's gorwn out a little more i'll finally post some pic's

I agree totally NyReefNoob. I am new to Zoa's and have fallen for the few that I have. I can't wait to see them grow and develop into larger colonies. I will say though that I may frag some off but not to sell. To each his own but I am the type of guy who sits and watches my tank endlessly...

on the zoas side of the hobby guys thinks that are not zoas the may think is like a fashion last year hornets worth 50 pp this year 10 pp like wgen nike realease the new jordans lol

You know its funny you say that about the price drop. I would bet that a lot of the people who buy the $50 a polyp have it somewhere in their head that they will return that sum of money in frags somewhere down the road, even if thats not the main goal. If you look at the way this is done and how it works out for most of the people along the way it ends up looking like a pyramid scheme. Once the pyramid base expands to a a certain size the price bubble pops. No way to grow the fresh cut 2 that you paid $100 for fast enough so now you are stuck have to grow 10 (provided none melt) just to come out even and thats not counting time and other expenses. Reminds me of those alpaca farms where people would sell you some $20000 alpacas so you could start a farm to sell your alpaca to others who wanted to start a farm. To bad the fur didn't sell for enough to sustain the business. Once people no longer needed them for breeding the whole thing would cave in on you. I have no problem with frags. I think its a great way to get corals into circulation and grow the hobby, but only if they are appropriately priced.

well if thats funny its even more funny to see people overpaying for corals depending on the linage. if i want to sale a coral for 50 and someone more known in the hobby sale the sane coral people are willing to pay more
