Hello everyone and welcome to my build.
As my glass is due for delivery next week I though this is a good time to start my build thread.
First a couple of things for my bg.
My name is Loukas and I come from the beautiful Athena, Hellas.
I have been in the hobby for many years but only the last 4 more seriously.
I have a kept a variety of freshwater's starting with community planted tanks and moving to African cichlids and turtle terrariums. At one point I had 7 tanks in my small flat!
A couple of years ago I decided that I got bored of FW and wanted to move in something a bit more challenging.
I started reading all the information I could find on the different aspects of SW and quietly started to design my system.
A few million hours of studding later, I sold all of my FW tanks and fish (except my terrarium as my other half is literally in love with our two RES), I moved , I bypassed a few ups and downs (aka crisis) and here I am.
Without any further delay...here's what I am planning...
Tank
130X100X65 cm
or
51X39X25 in
850 litters or approx 220 gallons
15mm all glass tank, rimless, bottom braced, with 45 degrees mitered corners, 3 sides starphire glass, side coast to coast external overflow with bean animal pipes
Stand
Stand will be made out of box metal and it will be 60cm(23") high.
I am hoping to enjoy the extra top view of the tank being rimless.
Sump
the sump will be located in the balcony inside a trunk for insulation and aesthetic purposes and it will be very simple. It will be made out of wood
Filtration
ATB Medium Size Internal DC skimmer
DIY biopellet reactor
Water movement
Stream pumps: 3 x 6105 on a 7096 controller
Return pump: haven't decided yet
The return pump will be connected to a sea swirl
Lighting
Pacific Sun Hyperion R2 2X150W
In the future I ll probably need to supplement the lighting but we ll see when we get there!
Ro-Di
Water Waves 2 Χ 100 GPD,with Booster Pump, In-Line TDS meter, manometer, Flush Kit and Osmosis Controller located in the balcony trunk
To close this first post I thought I ll give you a pic of the crime scene
Please ignore the tapes as they are a bit off the final dimensions of the tank.
The view I have laying in the couch :eek1:
So, hop on and enjoy the crazy ride as I am sure there will be plenty of ups and downs over the next few months.
Thanks for looking and I look forward to everyone's feed back, suggestions and creative criticism:reading:
