Beeker's 200g DD PAR38 lit Reef

Beeker... any updates on the tank? I'm using the Rapid LED PAR38's on my 40 gallon breeder... no corals yet but will start to add some soon...

Beautiful tank. How well do the tangs get along? I have the same tank as you, with a powder blue tang. I was thinking of getting a yellow tang as well, but I'm a little worried about how well they'll get along. I need to change over to LED's as well. Your lights look great!

Sorry for the lack of updates, lost my job 8 months ago and the tank's stability took a hit because of it

I've added another mp40 to the tank and am slowly switching out all the PAR38's for Aquaillumation fixtures i have 1 AI fixture now and it replace about 6 PAR38's by it's also with the color control it makes it a ton easier for me to get the color spectrum correct to pull out the sps true colors

I've had some issues with algea and not being able to keep up on consistant dosing or water changes is why i haven't had any pics up lately, the way my tank looked in those pics is the best it has ever looked, in 3-4 months it should be there again, i'm still doing Vodka and Amino acids i stopped the phol's xtra and had a few negatives when i stopped it so i don't believe i will be using it again i feel the same results can be had by just using Vodka

Sorry to hear about the job. Im in the same boat. I would honestly steer away from vodka unless you have a very good way to reduce phosphates, I tried the vodka for a short time and my phos. lvls shot through the roof and now I have a hair algae forest. Hang in there though, can't wait to see new pics once everything works out!

Hey i know it's been sometime and a long overdue update is in the cards.

my dad passed away from cancer 3 years ago at that time i lost my job and was working a job that wasn't able to maintain the tank properly, so needless to say i broke the 200g DD down and sold everything because of my dad passing and having to move into my own home which it wasn't possible for me to take the tank with me at that time.

i've been in my new house for 2 years now and the saltwater bug is biting again, i have a much better job now than i did when i moved into my house and am ready to start again.

I'm most likely going to be setting up a Cad 70g artisan tank within the next few months as money and time allow's.

I'll start a new thread for that tank once i get it ordered and filled up, heard great things about that tank and love the look of it myself.

200g's is awesome if you have the time and money to keep and maintain it.

the 70g will most likely be SPS dominate as those are the corals i love the most, not to mention 70g is a lot more easier to take care.

i'll be starting a new thread once i get the tank up and running.

Now since being out of the LED game for so long i'm just trying to figure out what would be the best option for the CAD 70g artisan

Sorry to hear about your dad, may he RIP. I used to love this thread, glad to see your making a come back. Please leave a link here so we can find the new thread when you get started.

tank was shut down when my dad passed but i still have the bug lol

going to go with a CAD artisan 70g, run 2 AI hydra 52's and maybe add a vortech, vodka was the best thing i think i have ever tried other than just being consistant with weekly water changes but on the 200g DD i was doing 30g water changes once a week, so a 70 will be a lot less of an expense in that regard

i spent easily 20+minutes a day on the 200g DD and then spent every sunday doing an hour+ worth of cleaning and water changing.
