Beeker's 200g DD PAR38 lit Reef

Thats an awsome tank...

Ive been wanting to get a marineland deep dimensions for a while now.

can you please post a pic of the center brace?

Sump was custom made but came with the tank when i bought it, dimensions for the sump are - 47x16x16 it fits perfectly under the stand with about 1 foot infront and 1 foot in back

the return pump is a Reeflo snapper and IMO it's plenty of flow for this tank until things start growing out, but my thoughts are at that point i'd just add a Mp40 vortech or 2 of them

I'll have aquascape pictures up tomorrow of the right side, granted i still have to work on the lighting and the left side aquascape but it will give you an idea of what i'm going for

i'll get a picture of the center brace as well, it's about 3 inches wide

i changed the design a little bit and pretty much put the rockwork up against the glass on the right side, but the way i'm thinking now is that i'll slope the rockwork into the left side of the tank and leave the rock off the glass on the left side making a nice open lagoon for lps, though i'm a perfectionist so this might not end up being exactly as decrisbed, lol

i basically buily my scape to maximize growth, and sps coral placement

Another awesome paint picture of what i'm going for now, don't bash it too hard, lol the spot lights will be more aligned in real life than they are in this paint image, and they will also be somewhat angled to cover the rockwork appropriatly

i might switch up the left side somewhat, i love open space but i hate blocking rock and corals with pieces of live rock infront of them, so this is going to be interesting to see how i do it, i might actually end up building the left side against the glass giving me more open room between the center brace and the rockwork on the left side, i'd love to do and island on the left but since it probably won't be veiwable from all sides it's kindof making me rethink going that route so mainly the rock will be all against the backwall and about halfway up the leftside overflow leaving a nice big open space from the front of the tank to the back section of live rock making for a lagoon look

Very nice! I like the design of the raised platform around the tank. Was the room framed with the tank in mind or was it an afterthought? Looking forward to seeing how the LEDs work out.

thanks for the comments :]]

I had originally planned to put the tank across from our pool table in the basement but ended up changing my mind when my dad suggested we put it where the entertainment stand was downstairs, so there was a center stand for a TV and then 2 shelves on the left and right side of that (essentially where the raised platforms are) we removed the entertainment stand, cut out the center of the platform and basically slid the tank into place, the tank is dead center with the wall but the cieling lights aren't centerd with it so they aren't 100% symetrical but it works

i took pics of the aquascape last night but was in a hurry comming to work this morning and can't remember if i put my camera in my car or left it at home, lol but i will have pics up tonight if i get the time to upload them

My friend came over and helped me with the scape a little bit last night, since i'm never satisfied with what i do, lol

The first 5 pics are of the first style scape the connecting branching rock from the main structure making the archways is all i changed in the second set of aquascape pics, tell me what you think looks better

Image shack is slow that is what is up with the pics, lol

here they are :p

this is the first aquascape i went with

view from the left side of the tank

NEXT 5 PICS IS THE SECOND AQUASCAPE, ALL I CHANGED WAS THE BRANCHES FOR THE ARCHWAYS

THE REST OF THE RIGHTSIDE AQUASCAPE WILL BE FINISHED WITH PIECES FROM MY MAIN 29G, that won't be done until the lighting for the rightside is up and i have most of my corals transfered

looks nice, i'm also thinking about changeing my aquascape to sth similar-so that part of the rocks are on the glass.

i was going to try and keep them off the glass but with the rocks being so big and needing stability it was the only option i had for the right side, but i love the valley's i've created and when i get Acan's, Scoly's Zoa's and other lps to fill them in it will look impressive, the left side of the scape won't be on the glass pretty much just the back wall, i'm shooting to leave the left side as open as i can wth a builtup rockwall on the back and partway up the left overflow

I'm excited to see how your tank will look with Evil's Par38's. A lot of guys have been doing cool things with them on smaller tanks, but not really in large applications.

Hopefully you get the look like dmorel's 220 cylinder with the spotlights.

PAR38's are on order and my track lighting setup is done i will have pics up ASAP when i recieve the bulbs, i only ordered 8 at this time so only the right side will be lit, i'll have pics up when i get them on the tank

can't freakin wait! :]

Cell phone pics i took at lunch, this is just of the 4 PAR38's running across the front of my tank

these are 12k's with 40 optics

First impressions are that these bulbs are just plain awesome, can't wait till i have the whole tank lit up with them!

nope not at all custom, lol

just a standard 200g marineland DD tank with the angle iron stand, the stand was skinned with wood and then painted black, the front panel attache's with magnets, the track lighting is just 4 rails with turn in sockets and then an end power connector cord that plugs right into the wall

it's actually quite simple just looks complex, lol

should have pics off all 8 PAR38's over the rightside up tomorrow

Cool idea. You can back-light that space to really make that tank POP! I will be watching to see how this turns out.
